and yes, what does this new era mean? what did Gareth mean in ep 172? well, none of us are sure - though i can say at the very least we'll continue the show at least 3 to 4 episodes a month, produced to the current standard :)

following up from the last post have also updated Ep 172 as well to remove any confusion - the plan was always to end OSTFT this weekend - am checking in regularly to see if we've reached our target - will email members with a video when we do, (fingers crossed as they say ;)

"UPDATE: Several listeners have emailed in confused – and frankly I don’t blame them – I too wasn’t quite sure what Gareth meant about the show continuing in another form! So here’s the deal: we need another $200 to pay for everything – that’s it – if we get that then we’ll keep doing the show per usual. Hope that makes sense, any questions just drop me a line at jett [@] thefilmtalk.com. And Gareth if you mean something completely different please email me as well ;)

Sorry for any confusion guys - as the producer of the show it was completely my fault for not stopping the show mid-way to figure out exactly what was going on. sigh.

A bunch of members have emailed me with the suggestion that we do just that = ask existing members for a couple more bucks each - i've been reticent to do that because you all have already given so much, frankly i'm humbled by it. we'll see how it goes by tomorrow - if it doesn't look like we're gonna make it then Gareth and I might send out a message to everybody - we'll see :)

will Gareth and I continue to talk if no one listens? this is the fear - as i've mentioned before on the show i've realized my habit is to only be in regular contact with those i'm working with on projects - this is not a good thing i know - am trying to get better - but if TFT ended within the first couple of years then chances are i would quite possibly have never spoken to Gareth again. hopefully not the case this time!

Three days left. The suspense is killing me. On top of that, I'm twelve hours away from pulling out of here for a week long Habitat gig in Louisiana (Katrina lives). I may have a couple past episodes along to listen to, but I won't know the fate of TFT until I return. So I'll pause now to say thanks, Jett and Gareth...just in case. What a great thing you've done. Best wishes to you as you move ahead with or without TFT. And the same to all who've crossed paths with you throughout the life of this creation of yours.

Hi, just joined today. I only stumbled upon The Film Talk about a week ago and have since listened to about 8 shows some current and some in your archive. I'm absolutely gutted that i found a really intellectual and funny contribution to my continued film education...... and now it might be closing down. Talk about bad timing. I'm very tempted to raid my student loans account and give you all the cash you would need to keep this going at least till I can say i've been part of your collective for more than a few days.

I hope the drive is successful, I've already spread the word amongst my friends here the UK but I don't know if any of them care about cinema enough to be honest.

p.s - Thankyou for pointing out the ending to Source Code being its biggest drawback, really messed with a nice little film. My sister thought it added 'depth' and a shock suprise/happy ending, to which I tried to tell her that there was the happy ending, a perfect one......it just happened about 5 minutes before the credits rolled.
