Via Metafilter comes this wonderful find: A memo written by flim-flam artist, (the con-man as painter), Thomas Kinkade™©, detailing ’16-points’ to keep in mind while making a film based upon his work - Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage.

I particularly like his exhortation to make the film look like ‘Barry Lyndon’; as if there’s some sort of Barry Lyndon switch on the camera. Hi Tom, little tip for ya – Kubrick was a genuine, mature, contemplative talent. You, on the other hand…are not.
Anyhew, perhaps I’m being too harsh. The fact that Chris Elliot is in the film, can only mean it is an elaborate hoax. I mean, c’mon – it’s directed by the guy that did The Mack!
Why isn't Ken Burns making this film? The combination would be DEADLY!
That film looks to be a classic of what science fiction fans call a “Gary Stu”, where the author inserts an idealized version of himself into the story (Gary Stu is the masculine of Mary Sue, the original self-insertion character).
So the characterization is going to be as bad as the aesthetics.
Oh, dear.
Sounds like he wanted it shot like a Barbara Walters interview.
And….”Peter O'Toole”????? Why, Peter??
Wow, it's like my worst nightmare come true.
Ken Burns v. T. Kincade
What if I hate family, home and holiday tradition? What then?
“Four Christmases”
Maybe a film should be made that does the 'opposite' of the 16 points. Wonder what we'd get then?
I think you get a porno.
