Loved the inclusion of the "impressionistic short." Those initial teasers (created and posted on the web by P.T. himself) are truly superb and I was bummed to see much of this footage was not in the actual film, as you mentioned. I wonder what happened?

So I felt kind of dissed by some of the talk. Is it really so hard for you to see someone after seeing The Master for the first time would be unsure if this was indeed "a genuine work of art" instead of confusing or opaque? Are some of us just simpletons who don't get it and thus want morals spelled out for us and answers spoon-fed to us?

I really wonder if PTA is having a laugh at people taking so seriously a movie partly about jerking off, Phoenix walking like a chicken, drinking lysol, walking back and forth a thousand times, mumbling, farting and saying stupid, vulgar things.

wonder what your thoughts are about this piece: http://blogs.suntimes.com/scanners/2012/10/the_master_what_does_it_all_me.html#more
especially this part: " Perhaps the filmmaker who reportedly took the inspiration for his professional monicker from P.T. Barnum (he also insisted that Mark Wahlberg's schlong was for real in "Boogie Nights"), is as much of a con man and bullshit artist as Dodd:

... [There's] something distressing about the urge to anoint Paul Thomas Anderson as -- finally! at long last!--a cinematic genius. "

and this review: http://tomshone.blogspot.com/2012/10/review-master-dir-anderson.html
especially this part - "I haven't read one bad review of The Master any of the quality outlets. ... The nay-sayers, skeptics and unbelievers, on the other hand, have turned out to be.... those poor pumpkin heads, the public, who have quickly discovered Paul Thomas Anderson's masterpiece to be about as enjoyable as a hangnail. "
