Wow - thank you Jeff for your kinds comments - means a lot to us here at TFT - in fact, if I had known that contemplating ending the show would bring out this kind of sentiment I would have ended the show a lot sooner! ;)

I agree, and second, everything Jeff says. The Thomson interview was great - despite his not liking The Fountain, or his comment on Scorsese - and I tell everyone I can about the show; have gone back and listened to past episodes multiple times and look forward to each new show.

Another excellent interview. A serious, thoughtful, erudite dialogue about the meaning and culture of cinema. Despite his abuse of such masters as Fellini, Ford, and Scorsese, Thomson is an interesting writer and worth reading.

This is why I can't abide the thought of TFT shutting down. I don't get this kind of content from any other film podcast.

Filmspotting is fairly smart, but they didn't invoke H.G. Wells to ridicule 'Transformers 2'. The Slashfilmcast is fun, but they spent an hour debating the "merits" of 'G.I. Joe' and never noticed the existence of 'Tetro'. The AV Club didn't introduce me to old gems like 'The President's Analyst' or 'Phase IV'. (Great little film; the "ant funeral" scene is fascinating.)

I say again: This is the only film podcast I'm willing to pay for. Personally, it is the only one in the market (that I know of) that I feel is actually smarter than I am. That may sound arrogant ... but really, TFT makes the other shows look pedestrian.

This is film discussion for grown-ups. Well worth three bucks a month.
