On the left, Stanley Kubrick.
On the right Denis Menochet from ‘Inglourious Basterds’.
Eerie isn’t it? Of course one can’t help but think of the never-made Kubrick World War 2 pic ‘Wartime Lies/Aryan Papers’.

P.S. Our podcast analysis of ‘Inglorious Basterds’ will be online this in several days – stay tuned.
the film has the same dull emptyness and langour of say 'eyes wide shut'. A polished pointlessness to it. Oceans 11 crossed with benny hill and allo allo. six long scenes strung together and called a 'movie'.
The same dull emptyness of EYES WIDE SHUT? We're gonna have agree to disagree there – EWS is an astonishing treatise on marriage – I watch it at least every 6 months – give it another try! :)
In fact we did a whole show dedicated to it: The Film Talk – Part 33 – That’s A 25 Year Old, An Eyes Wide Shut Appreciation
As for INGLORIOUS BASTERDS – well, we just recorded an ep on it – it made for an interesting discussion – will be online by Monday.
