a tiresome movie for sure. who cares about men and guns again and again the same fixation. depp is a great filmstar impersonating a gangster. Even the other way round this is still a tiresome presentation of a movie type..the gangster.
digital still looks crap, oddly mismatching shots, grainy night shot one minute, crisp hyperreal texture the next, sky backgrounds veer from total blown out to crisp full depth of field, I don't get the inconsistency, plus terrible artifacts on facial outlines in some exterior scenes, basically all the problems digital gives us, but nobody saw fit to rectify in post which is odd on a big bucks movie. Chinatown this movie ain't. but mainly it was another ok gangster film with the same passive female falling in love with bad guy role we have seen since hollywood took over the dissimulation of msyogeny in about 1919..
it´s sounds dire waynex… yet i find myself compelled to see it, if for no other reason than Dr. Higgins can´t decide whether or not it´s a “good” movie or a “bad” movie.
