Nashville Film Festival – Some Films to Look Out For

(Jett is a Juror at this year’s Nashville Film Festival, (April 16th-23rd); he’ll be updating ‘The Film Talk’ throughout the Fest with thoughts on films seen both in and out of competition – as always Spoilers Ahoy)

Here’s some ‘gems’ seen so far here at the Fest:

American Harmony / Directed by Aengus James

My Poster Caption: “It’s this Year’s ‘King of Kong’!”

And it is…well, perhaps not as deep as KoK – it doesn’t have as much an insight into the human condition – but man, this look into the incredibly competitive world of ‘professional’ Barbershop Quartet singing, (who knew?), is tense, funny and has, (and I don’t want to spoil it so I won’t), one brilliant scene at the end that gives you hope that humanity will make it.

Other Poster Caption: “Compulsively funny, insightful and entertaining!”

500 Days of Summer / Written by Scott NeustadterMichael H. Weber / Featuring Joseph Gordon-LevittZooey Deschanel / Directed by Marc Webb

See the TFT Review here – it’s gonna be a hit!

That Evening Sun / Directed by Scott Teems

Understated, quiet, peaceful and poignant study of old age starring Hal Holbrook who performs the difficult feat of making his command of craft transparent; with incisive performances by Ray McKinnon and Carrie Preston, (plus it’s produced by Walton Goggins who has a small role in it – Walton Goggins! ).
