I’m glad the election is over; much as I felt like it was a childhood Christmas on Tuesday and Wednesday. And Thursday. And today. I’m eager, however, to get back to the movies. It’s the time of year when the classy stuff gets released – everyone’s looking for awards. I am, as you know, a bit of a pushover when it comes to old school epic-style movies, though that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. The next couple of months see some films whose publicity gives the impression that they may be of interest. I suppose I could just tell you what they are, but that would be boring. So let’s have a little fun. Below, I’ve listed for the sake of indulgence the often ridiculous taglines of some of the movies coming out soon that might interest me. If you’d like to guess which films are advertised here – and on the elegant and renowned The Film Talk Listener honour system (which means you can’t google the tagline) – maybe we might get a nice thing going. Or maybe we won’t. Simple rule is this – these are all films that will be released in the US between now and 31st December 2008. The Dear Listener with the most correct guesses will receive an entirely free mention on the next episode!
And of course any one of you Dear Listeners who wishes to contribute your own list of films you’re looking forward to but don’t have very high hopes for will always find a welcome at The Film Talk comment board.
