Can't decide on my new favorite Jett quote: “If it's Greengrass, you know where to put your a–” or “Once he went to color, he went to s—”
I think the 'Greengrass Quote' is a helpful tip for anyone out there who wants to avoid motion-sickness nausea during GREEN ZONE! ;)
Great podcast guys, as usual. Jett, there is another phrase of dialogue that has become so painfully cliche in these spy/spec ops thrillers that it has to be banned from the English vernacular forever: “You're off reservation.”
I pray to the gods of screenwriters and studio executives, no more. Even if it's said with such eloquence or power by someone such as the fantastic Brendan Gleeson.
The first, only (and IMO best) film of this genre that's permitted to use it is Mamet's severely underrated Spartan. Maybe I can convince you guys to do a review of it sometime…

I finally saw it, with the requisite low expectations, and thought that, aside from the improbable and pointless wish-fulfillment ending, it was better than The Hurt Locker.
Sure, some of the dialogue was contrived (there was also some really good dialogue, too), and Amy Ryan unfortunately was underutilized and perhaps unnecessary to the film. But to my surprise, the film was more morally ambiguous than I was led to believe. And it certainly had a great look and feel, probably better than I've seen in a contemporary war film.
A couple of hours well spent.
