Is Eddie Marsan the finest male cinema actor working in Britain today?  On the basis of Happy Go Lucky I’d say yes.

I was so impressed with him, and this film, that I actually called into an NPR show, (NPR!), that Mike Leigh was on in order to ask him a question, (I called under a false name of course…cause, really, it’s a bit fan boy innit?).

Go see Happy Go Lucky.  Really.

He gets my vote too, I just can't get his performance out of my head. I've seen it twice and I have to laugh out loud whenever I think about En Ra Ha. And so touchingly sad when he is rejected. And how about the flamenco dance teacher? Fab.

    - yeah he's pretty good – can't tell you how much he brightened up my day when I was watching Hancock! :

Great as Marsan was in “Happy,” he is even more fiercely brilliant in the BBC production of “Little Dorrit” by Chas. Dickens, also released in 2008.
