maaaaan, i've never seen this in my adult life and now i'm dying too, dadgumit!…i love pop art eye candy!! Sorry to hear about the rejection Alan. :( I take it things went better from there?

As for propaganda = you betcha, but so is Casablanca.

I think the propaganda would get in the way for me if the film's conception of the Soviet Union had any grounding in reality – but once we see Rocky and crew arrive somewhere in Russia, on a prop plane!, one has to say this is fantasy – this is Cambell's Soup Cans, Marilyn and Lichtenstein Planes going 'Whaaaaam!'.

Sadly for me, Rocky IV will always be associated with my rejection from Exeter University which occurred during the same weekend. And no reappraisal of any Pop-art sensibilities will convince me that this film is anything other than propagandist pap.
