A funny, intelligent and sensitive man who gave the proceedings some real class and entertainment. But then the BAFTAs have always been better than the Oscars because they allow the award winners time to actually say something coherent. No ad breaks either!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A gripe I have here about the Oscars is that they&#039;re not available on any of the free channels in Britain  - so I&#039;ve not actually seen them in full for the last five years or so.
